This course provided an opportunity for me as a coach to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of operating principles in the areas of human growth and development, motor skill acquisition, philosophy of coaching, and the psychology and sociology of sport. Social reinforcement or feedback that a coach gives to a player is very important for a player's performance. Here is the sample of a volleyball practice that I observed and the types of feedback players received during the practice.

Positive youth development
KIN 857- Promoting Positive Youth Development through Sport
Instructor: D. Gould Fall 2010
This courseprovided me with a better understanding of ways to facilitate positive youth and student-athlete development through sport. In the course the emerging youth development literature that focuses on the role of sport and other extracurricular activities play in enhancing positive youth development like attachment to school and educational aspirations, developing life skills such as initiative, teamwork, and emotional control, were explored. Other topics included poor sportsmanship, overemphasis on winning and need for coach and parent education. Here is my term paper where I designated youth volleyball league for the students from 4 through 8 grade in this community. I am very proud of this as last spring I ran the league and it was successful.
